History

As early as in 1933 Josef Blažek, then the youngest member of the glass work Blažek family, a skilled glass grinder, established his first firm in Nový Bor. Despite initial problems he became successful and moved to Poděbrady in 1938. There since 1939, regardless of unfavourable war years, he managed to develop his business until 1948, when his company was nationalized.

In 1992 the glass works were given back to Josef Blažek ´s children Dalibor and Drahoslava, who succeeded in restarting the company in spite of the long pause. The tradition of manually decorated glass was renovated under the original name of the company - J. Blažek Sklo Poděbrady s.r.o..

Nowadays company secretaries are a granddaughter of Josef Blažek Lenka Blažková – Zdobinská and her husband Petr Zdobinský. As the company developed thanks to new products and markets, the company changed its name to Blažek Glass s.r.o. in 2009.

The company now has 65 employees and supplies original glass files, traditional decorated crystal, crystal urns, trophies, crystal jewellery and other glass products.
